I've been thinking of all the people coping with Hurricane Sandy and hoping things soon get back to normal for millions of people. It certainly makes me feel lucky to sit in my warm house with little luxuries like electricity, clean water and dry floors.

City Nights

The main highlight of this picture was intended to show off the new Wasabi Pills Amelie style, new for FaMeshed which reopens on the 1st of November. I love everything about it. The hairband is just adorable and of course as with all Wasabi Pills accessories, colour change.  The rest is a mishmash of clothes from my inventory. I think it all came together quite nicely and I hope you do too!

You haven't heard?

Well then, we have some shopping to do, girlfriend. When Maitreya and Mon Tissu release on the same weekend, shopping is a must.

I went for a neutral look in this pic - the new release sweater and (ok, not new but fabulous) handbag from Maitreya paired with the oh-so-darling new release cotton pants from Mon Tissu. The shoes from Gos (oldies but goodies) worked perfectly with the casual rolled cuff of the pants. My hair is new too, from Truth - I'll never have enough updos. Note also the SLink hands. I can be so expressive with them! The pose that brings everything to life is one of Adorkable's handbag poses.

My friend April sent me a landmark to a sim she thought would be nice for photos. I took a look.  It was pretty, but I ended up back at our sim at her doorstep for this picture. Since I usually have to drag her around to shop, it was inspiration for the pic. There's no place like home for pics, really. 

No list of credits today, I forgot and changed out of this outfit and I'm too lazy to put everything back on. :-P All is not lost, however! Everything should be covered in the text. 

52 Weeks of Color Challenge - Charcoal by Dolly

I checked.  The color really is called charcoal this week.  My love affair with the store coldLogic will never end, I don't think.  This top and skirt work beautifully together.  Of course, my heart can easily be stolen by a new hair from Truth.  I am loving the new faded textures, especially the pumpkin pie ones. 

I've got a sniffly cold in RL, but in Second Life I can croon with the best thanks to this darling pose prop from Estetica.  Karaoke, anyone?

I do love a masked ball.  It gives me a chance to be mysterious and dramatic - and The Costume Ball event has wonderfully classy offerings for this Halloween season's parties. This full skirted mesh dress by Valentina E. Couture gives off a lovely rich sheen and a hint of red with every step. The fairy wings are included.  Ploom has an exclusive hair that compliments the dress, complete with glittered mask that can be worn two ways.

The Costume Ball Approaches

The Costume Ball, brought to you by the Ego Co, opens it's doors tomorrow, the 24th of October, at 12pm SLT.  As the name suggests the items will all be tailored around a dark but tasteful theme that captures the festivities of Halloween which draws chillingly close.

The first few items I am highlighting were designed as if they were made for each other. I'm wearing the Happy Undead - Black Widow Dress. This dress can be worn as shown, but the corset and collar can be worn as separate items, which comes in handy for mixing and matching.

The amazing hair is Medusa from [HANDverk]. It comes in 8 different colours including black, green, pink and orange and you can chose different eye colours for the snakes too. It really is so squirmy and wonderful looking!

The skin that I put on to finish the look is Izzie's - Fuyu Skin. It comes with 8 different lipsticks, blush and even the shape to go with, although I never used it in my pictures.

My Attic

I decided to go "editorial" for this post, meaning that the pose doesn't exactly show off the outfit but I liked it anyway.  It's near Halloween and the closest I've come to a costume has been going blonde in my last post, so I thought I'd at least try for a moody photo for the My Attic at the Deck sale.  The hair from Exile and the Baiastice sweater with built in leggings are both on sale at My Attic - $95 L, and they're worth so much more!

Call Me, Maybe?

This dress is another stunning creation from our friends at 22769 Casual Couture and it's available at the Fair event which started on 20th October and runs 15th November.  I love the colour, the pattern, the detailed folds and creases and it hugs my figure perfectly! Nice one boys!

This is the first time I have used projectors in my pictures. It comes in very handy for indoor shots when shadows are impossible to get unless you aren't completely closed in. Very nifty I must say!

I Hear Voices

I'm not really Joan of Arc, it's just the hair to show off my - did you see it? EARS!

I was thrilled when I got my first pair of non-system feet. I was also delighted with my new SLink mesh hands. I confess I never thought much about my SL ears except as an attachment point for earrings until I saw the new Mandala ear release. Now I want another pair - a non-pierced pair to which I will attach my large number of earrings. I can HEAR!  (Oh and hair designers, since I'm in the asking mood, could you do some new releases showing lots of sexy ear lobes? Thanks in advance. Love and kisses for all that you do from your best customer, Dolly)

While I'm so excited about my new ears, I can't neglect to tell you about my new clothes. Don't you love this sweater and pants? They're brand new releases from coldLogic. Wow. I want this outfit in both of my lives.

Don't Blink

This picture kind of gives me the creeps and it wasn't intentional. That statue back there reminds me of the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who and I have my back turned! I'm gonna turn around and have this big nasty thing bearing it's teeth at me in a minute. Even in real life, statues give me the heebiejeebies. I'm out of here!

Not really, well at least not until I talk about what I'm wearing. G Field has always been a favourite of mine and this is a new release, the Classic Dress "Vivian" in bordeaux. I matched it up with my new boots from Gos which I fatpacked last week, the colours are awesome but I went with black to tie in with the dresses trim, but the burgundy looked good as well.

Okay, I'm really off now before something bad happens to my new clothes!

Breaking the Bank

After all the shopping I've done in the past week, including a good few fatpacks, now is the time to jump online to check my bank balance. I am good at keeping some money tucked away for a rainy day, but just recently there has been way too much temptation and I am only half way round the Cinema event!

The news isn't good. It looks like little piggy is going to take a hammering so I can go out and buy the new Slink hands everyone is raving about. It's a shame, look at her sitting there looking after pennies, but needs must! Look away, pig slaughtering isn't for the faint hearted!

Dolly Does Cinema

Cinema is a smash.  The all mesh build is awesome, the merchants are great, lag is minor.  Make sure you strip down on scripts to keep it that way.  I bought so much there that I think I'll need to stray from my usual format of one picture per blog post.  Cracked Mirror's mesh corset and undies bring out my romantic side.  Although I'm not showing it in this picture, the ties in the back of the corset and ruffles on the panties are fabulous.  See for yourself. 

From Romance I headed over to Science Fiction.  "Lieutenant Dolly reporting for duty. Live long and prosper, Captain!"  My bucket list just got shorter thanks to E! Eclectic Apparel.  I've actually dressed up like a Star Trek character!  I'm a Vulcan, you can tell by my greeting even if my pointy ears are covered by hair.

Close Your Eyes For Brighter Skies

When I'm down, there's nothing I love more than to head to the seafront, where I sit and let the sound of the waves crashing wash over me. It's the most calming thing in the whole world, I could stay for hours. In saying that, I live right on the north sea coast so I need more than a sweater and a snood to keep me warm in this crisp, autumnal weather!

Dolly and I went shopping for inspiration yesterday and we sauntered on over to League.  We picked up the same items and decided to blog them just to see how differently we both put our looks together.  I am in LOVE with the boots, I fatpacked the earth colours and I fatpacked the leggings too. The cute snood is free and comes in three earthy designs.  The sweater is from The Secret Store and it tied in with the look I wanted perfectly.  Of course the piéce de résistance and the item that gave me the inspiration for this picture is the hair from Alice Project. I love, love, love it and you can find it at the newly opened and quite superb Cinema event!

52 Weeks of Color Challenge - Cosmic by Dolly

One thing the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge has done for me is to help me get over my redheads-can't-wear-purple prejudice.  I didn't shudder or whine about how I couldn't possibly wear this Cosmic color for anything other than the picture, because I'll be wearing this gorgeous Baiastice sweater and skirt outfit a lot!

Big news for people who take lots of photos or are incredibly picky about their avatars (aren't most of us?) Slink has released mesh hands. That's right, HANDS! You can pick up a single hand position, or do what I did and spring for the fat pack so you can mix or match hand positions the way I have here.  I decided not to process this picture much so you could see just how lovely these hands are in world. They use the same hud as the mesh feet and are about the same in the relative ease of matching to a skin.  It took me about 20 minutes.

Last but not least, Truth has come out with a new set of hair textures.  I'm  loving this pumpkin pie color with the lighter ends.

One thing I love about blogging is just when you think your inspiration has gone kaput, something comes along and steals your attention. I wasn't quite sure where I was going when I took this picture wearing Cthulhu's Longing set from A:S:S (available soon at the Cinema event), but somehow it all fell together. Collabor88 has opened it's doors to October and of course I was there as soon as I was out of bed.  When I got back and tried on this catsuit from Glam Affair, along with hair from Diva, I immediately thought, 'Oh my, I look a bit like naughty Sandy from Grease!'  This is why I LOVE Second Life, you can be whoever you want to be and all my life I have idolised Olivia Newton John, and now I got to be her for just a wee while. Though I reckon she didn't have my hips and thunder thighs. I nipped off to Carnival of Chaos to try and replicate the scene. Not quite the same without my Pink Ladies and my Danny, but it was fun all the same.

A walk in the park

I saw someone post a picture of this sweater on Plurk the other day and I forgot to like it. Took me a while to try and remember the stores name, I only knew that it was unusual. Then I remembered one detail, it was the old Sixty Nine store. My detective work began and within 5 minutes and a couple of failed TP's I found it.  The place is called Eaters Coma and it has a small selection of mesh designs, including some hair. Might have to go back and buy a wig or two.

It's a Secret

You know those people in Second Life who get offended when someone compliments them on their look and asks where they got what they're wearing?  I don't get that secrecy, but maybe they are saying it's from The Secret Store.  I'm too excited by this secret so I'm sharing with a few dozen of my besties and anyone else who asks.

The Secret Store released this oversized sweater just in time for October bundling up.  The texturing is gorgeous.  I spotted the scarf, headphones included, on a blog and zipped over to Pepper Accessories to snap it up (so I can listen to Ayla singing Itsy Bitsy Spider in punk rock style).  With its unisex appeal and plenty of color choices, both guys and girls should have this scarf in inventory.  These are my first purchases from both of these stores.  I'm quite sure I'll be stalking their new releases from now on.
